Socioculture Statement
The world is made up of 2 different groups of people, those that think and those that don't. Our future belongs to those that think.

What do you mean by ‘think’?
Explorer
-
To think is to not drift but to be aware and question, reflect, ponder. To realize there are alternatives. To know that you don't know much about what is happening. To be curious.
-
Based on the results of the last election, do you really believe that the future belongs to those who think???
SilentOne
-
Yes, if they are in the majority
-
What kind of future do you visualize with perhaps many of the non thinkers are actually silent thinkers
Seagirl
-
Not good. Greed and corruption and violence live silence; love non resistance.
-
So how can we (society) encourage thinking so that the majority of people are thoughtful and engaged?
SilentOne
-
1) Education. 2) Sell parents and religious leaders on the value of being questioned. 3) discourage blind obedience.
-
Do you believe that educators want to encourage independent thinking? Isn't the education system skewed towards students getting good grades by rote learning?

I often distinguish between people who think and people who feel. Obviously. these things are tangled together, but it seems to me that people who are ruled more by thought than those ruled by emotions are more likely to make good decisions. The current US president is brilliant at connecting with peoples more basic feelings, hence his second term in office.
