Beliefs

• I believe AI is inevitable, as is AGI and shortly thereafter ASI (artificial super-intelligence). I think that this could be the best of times, but that there is a much greater chance that this will head off in directions that were not intended and at that point life will become very, very interesting: and likely short.

Questions

• If a patient were unhealthy, beligerent and non-compliant, there would be a tendcy to want to fire this sort of patient. Could a patient be fired and under what set of circumstnaces. Additionally, who would want to care for this sort of person?
• I often distinguish between people who think and people who feel. Obviously. these things are tangled together, but it seems to me that people who are ruled more by thought than those ruled by emotions are more likely to make good decisions. The current US president is brilliant at connecting with peoples more basic feelings, hence his second term in office.
• Happiness is the unintended consequence of meaningful activity. Is there a danger that having full freedom in terms of how one spends one's time with no sense of economic consequences, that this will lead to aimlessness and less happiness?
